This one day experiment workshop will explore the medium of Monoprint to document the human form.
The day will begin with a brief demonstration of the basic techniques of Monoprint. The session includes a simple technical handout. This includes suggestions for a variety of subtraction and trace down techniques together with a range of drawing implements you can use.
Life Drawing straight onto the printing plate forms the core of the workshop allowing you to capture form, texture and tonal qualities directly from the model. There will be an opportunity to work in black and white, and later in the day, the addition of colour, stencils and collaging. The workshop uses water based inks and supplies all paper and additional equipment.
This is an accessible and immediate way to work with plenty of breadth to experiment and generate individual responses. The workshop is aimed at all levels and Kate brings her skills as a drawing educator and artist to the session, sharing her dynamic and passionate approach to body driven concepts. There will be time to share our results amongst the group over lunch and at the end of the day.
