Duncan Cameron

Expert tutor

Duncan is currently the course Leader for the IFY at Falmouth Uni, being a senior lecturer/module leader for the Fine Art and Drawing group.

His art lecturing career has spanned nearly three decades, lecturing on a number of BA and Foundation programmes.

Alongside teaching and course management roles, Duncan has for the last 5 years also been completing a Fine Art practice-led PhD and working as a Doctoral Teaching Assistant with Plymouth Uni and lecturing into the BA Fine Art Programme.

During the pandemic Duncan contributed regularly to online teaching forums like the Isolation Arts School, built art teaching content on YouTube, spoke at Virtual conferences and also did some work as a VL on the Falmouth BA Drawing Programme.

Previously living with his family in Bristol for 15 years Duncan had art studios at Mivart Street and Artspace, helping to develop and move the studio group into an empty former Tea Factory, now known as Spike Island.

He has also worked as a community artist managing creative projects for the council in Withywood, and was also involved with many other artist-led groups to develop, fund and deliver arts programmes and opportunities for artists in the city.

Alongside his work in education and fine art Duncan has been a diving instructor, a book illustrator, and also makes puppets and props for theatre, has worked as part of a creative team with the joint charities at the Glastonbury Festival and is a keen bee keeper. Duncan has maintained an active studio and exhibiting fine art practice, in drawing and sculpture, for 30 years and shows new work regularly.
