Jason Walker
Expert tutor
Jason Walker is most well known for his mature and sensitive portrait paintings, though his work also includes detailed drawings and paintings of everyday objects …imbuing them with a subtle presence.
More recently Jason’s practice is diversifying..taking on a freer approach and working from preparatory drawings and maquette…….moving into narrative and archetype.
Jason graduated from Falmouth University (then Falmouth School of Art) in 1992. He has won awards at the Discerning Eye, The Hunting Art Prizes and the Holburne Portrait Prize and was commissioned to paint Glastonbury Festival founder Micheal Eavis. The portrait is now in the permanent collection at the Holburne Museum of Art in Bath.
He has exhibited a number of times at the National Portrait Gallery and was until very recently an Associate member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
In 2005 he painted the portrait of St Ives artist Bryan Pearce, which was given to the Royal Cornwall Museum, Truro as part of the Bryan Pearce Bequest.
